What Matters To Me is a public research programme from STAF which seeks to develop strategies and frameworks for improving health and wellbeing through the arts, built around collaborations between artists, healthcare professionals, institutions, and researchers. It explores pressing social issues and urgent concerns, activate strategies of support and develop concrete actions for sector change.

The first What Matters To Me events were a series of research presentations, bringing together artists and researchers to discuss the overlapping interests and concerns within their practices. The participants’ work was complimentary, opening new avenues for practical application of research and new theoretical underpinnings for professional activity in a post-Covid-19 world.

Our first events were produced in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London. Queen Mary are committed to working in partnership with a range of arts and arts organisations. Collaborations such as this one with STAF are set up to support the sector as well as enrich and enable their own research.
